WELCOME TO THE PARENTS’ CORNER

You don’t need
all the answers.
Just a little curiosity.

Health is a big subject. Start with something small: a picture, a question, and a moment together.

The four Health Explorers, Maya, Leo, Sam, and Jordan

FOUR FRIENDS TO HELP START THE CONVERSATION.

01

Follow their curiosity.

Let your child choose what catches their eye. You can explore one detail without finishing the whole page.

02

Make space for their world.

Families, bodies, homes, and experiences are different. Invite your child’s perspective, without looking for one “right” story.

03

Keep responsibility shared.

Kids don’t control everything that shapes health. Families, schools, care teams, and communities have a part to play.

WHAT THE STORIES HELP KIDS EXPLORE

Notice a connection.
Find words for it.

These are invitations for conversation, not tests. Look for your child’s ideas, questions, and growing awareness.

01 / VOICE

I can be part
of my care.

Objective: Practice asking a question, sharing an experience, or requesting an explanation.

A sign of discovery

Your child offers something they would like a health professional to know. Speaking, signing, writing, and other ways of communicating all count.

02 / SUPPORT

Health grows
through connection.

Objective: Recognize people, places, and resources that help a family or community.

A sign of discovery

Your child names a trusted helper or notices a way to make a place more welcoming. It is also okay to notice that a support is missing.

03 / ACCESS

Everyone deserves
a place at the table.

Objective: Connect food with culture, sharing, and having access to what a family needs.

A sign of discovery

Your child shares a food tradition or suggests how adults and communities could help more people access food. Avoid ranking families or foods as “good” or “bad.”

INSPIRED BY THE BOOK’S FAMILY & COMMUNITY HEALTH MAPS

Health has
many connections.

Explore six parts of a support network. Start with what is already there, then notice what could be easier to access.

HEALTH IS BUILT TOGETHERMy family

MY FAMILY / PEOPLE

Notice your circle of support.

A relative who listens, a friend who checks in, or a care professional who knows your family.

What we’re exploring

Help your child recognize that care and support can come from different people.

Ask together: “Who helps us feel listened to?”

Try it: take turns naming a helper and one thing they do.

Examples are starting points, not a checklist every family must meet. You can talk about a connection you have, wish for, or want help finding.

A CERTIFICATE OF DISCOVERY

Celebrate the thinking.
Not a perfect answer.

The book’s Health Explorer certificate celebrates questions, connections, and the idea that health is built together.

What did your explorer try?

Choose any that fit. This celebrates participation, not a health assessment.

Details stay on this page and are not uploaded. Print or save as PDF before leaving.

GOOD QUESTIONS

A few things
you might wonder.

Do I need to teach a health lesson?

No. Start by looking, coloring, and listening. “What do you notice?” and “What do you wonder?” are enough to begin.

How do we talk about things our child can’t change?

Make room for what they notice. You can say, “Some things need help from grown-ups and communities.” The book’s starting point is shared responsibility, rather than blame.

Can we use this away from a screen?

Yes. Download the free PDF and print it on US Letter paper. Choose “Fit to page” if your printer trims the edges. Pencils, crayons, or a conversation all work.

What happens to pictures made in the color studio?

The drawing stays in the current page and is not uploaded. Use “Save picture” to download it before you leave or refresh. No child account or personal information is needed for the activities.

Can we turn the movement off?

Yes. The clubhouse has a “Pause motion” button and also respects your device’s reduced-motion preference. The coloring studio supports pointer input and keyboard drawing.

What’s coming after the coloring book?

A board game is planned as the next My World of Health adventure. Details will be added when it is ready.

THE WORLD IS BIG. START SMALL.

A page. A question.
A moment that’s yours.
